Celebrate the autumn harvest “down on the farm” and enjoy live entertainment, old time games, unique crafts, farm demonstrations and much more! Fun activities for all ages include hayrides, working sheep dog demonstrations, music, old time children’s games and crafts, hay maze, sheep shearing, antique farm machinery, farm animals, food and lots more.  No pets on site please. Art for Parks  – 
A Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Montgomery County’s ParksRockville Arts Place

The Art for Parks Exhibit will be held at the Rockville Arts Place (www.rockvilleartsplace.org)  100 E. Middle Lane in Rockville from Thursday, October 10 through Saturday, October 26, 2002.  The Parks Foundation is jointly sponsoring this exhibition with the Washington Society of Landscape Painters (www.wslp.org).  All paintings will depict park scenes in the county and will be available for sale.  For exhibit hours, call (301) 309-6900.

Locust Grove Nature Center

October is a magical month when nature bewitches us with vibrant color and subtle transformations.  Experience its enchantments at our unique campfire for the Friends of Locust Grove members and their families.  Spirited activities for wizards and muggles alike will help us celebrate the charms of autumn.  S’mores and Bertie Bott’s every flavor jelly beans included.  Wands are welcome but leave broomsticks at home.  Must be a Friend of Locust Grove to attend.  New members are welcome!

Agricultural History Farm Park

3rd Annual Montgomery County Marathon in the Parks

Created by the Montgomery Parks Foundation and the Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MCRRC), the Montgomery County Marathon in the Parks will showcase one of the most extensive metropolitan parks systems in the country while providing runners with a competitive, top-notch race. The marathon is limited to 2000 runners. The Marathon in the Parks is more than a 26.2 mile foot race, it is a simultaneous celebration of running, nature, and community in the place where all three come together every day – Montgomery County, Maryland!
